Meet The HD Nursing Leadership Team

Dr. Amy Hester – Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer 

Amy has 25 years of nursing experience include over a decade of med/surge and neuro nursing followed by unit management and hospital administration. In 2015, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science and has since published and spoken extensively on the subject of falls and injury prediction and prevention. She retired from UAM in 2018 after 26 years of service to dedicate her time fully to HD Nursing. She is adjunct faculty at UAMS CON. As an entrepreneur she mentors’ others to help them with their own endeavors. Amy also serves athe Chair of the HD Nursing Board of Directors. 


Gary Platzman – President & Chief Commercial Officer 

Gary has over 25 years of sales, marketing and operational healthcare experience.  He has a BS In Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts – Amherst and started his career as a Mechanical Engineer with Raytheon Technologies, moving into sales marketing executive roles in the healthcare industry.  As President at Dove Medical, Gary developed the Redi+Wash, Total Body Cleansing System, one of the first infection control personal care products marketed to the acute and long-term care markets.  Redi+Wash was acquired by PDC Corp. in 2000.  At the Posey Company, Gary led a transformation of the company into market leader in Falls Management Products and Services. 


Kent Barkouras – Chief Strategy and Compliance Officer 

Kent has 30 years developing leading technology, marketing and supply chain solutions for the leaders in a variety of industries including healthcare. He has an undergraduate degree from Trinity University and law degree from Whittier College of Law in Los Angeles. Kent was formerly founder and CEO of MyPrint Corporation and in 2002 launched the brand management’s industry’s first web to print online portal known as “eTools”. In less than five years the company reached annual revenue of $75 million per year. Client acquisitions included the leaders in healthcare, hospitality, financial services and education industries. Kent completed the successful sale of the company to private equity in 2009. Subsequently he became an angel investor in selected healthcare start-ups which include HD Nursing.  


Patricia Quigley, PhD, MPH, APRN, CRRN, FAAN, FAANP – Clinical Advisory Committee 

Dr. Quigley is a nurse consultant,  retired Associate Director of  the VISN 8 Patient Safety Center of Inquiry and is both a Clinical Nurse Specialist and a Nurse Practitioner in Rehabilitation. Her contributions to patient safety, nursing and rehabilitation are evident at a national level – with emphasis on clinical practice innovations designed to promote elders’ independence and safety.  She is nationally known for her program of research in patient safety, particularly in fall prevention. The falls program research agenda continues to drive research efforts across health services and rehabilitation researchers.
